PLANS FOR CITY CENTRE AREA

Local spatial development plan for the area between the Powązki Cemetery and the railways of the Warszawa Gdańska station

The Local spatial development plan for the area between the Powązki Cemetery and the tracks of the Warszawa Gdańska railway station is a draft plan created at the beginning of the 21st century, which was not adopted in this form. It covers an area located in the northern part of the Wola District in Warsaw and is a typical example of an attempt to recover degraded areas of the city from the crisis state. The solutions adopted in the project were to transform the degraded areas used by cemetery services into an attractive residential and service area supplemented with education, sports and park greenery services. The draft plan assumed a new transport system, including car transport, that would connect the study area with the northern part of the city on the other side of the railway tracks. The functions that predominated in the eastern part of the study area were the areas of administration, offices and concentrated services.
