ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

Basic ecophysiographic study required for the Local spatial development plan for the Karolówka area in Warsaw

Basic ecophysiographic study was prepared for the needs of the Local spatial development plan for the area of Karolówka which is located in Warsaw, in the north-eastern part of the Rembertów District. It covers an urban area with a fairly uniform spatial structure of extensive single-family housing development with enclaves of open areas: forests, scrub and fallow lands. There are no valuable lands in terms of natural and landscape elements, protected areas or objects under legal protection within its borders. However, the area is surrounded by a forest complex belonging to the Warsaw Natural System and Warsaw Protected Landscape Area. As part of the above-mentioned environmental document, guidelines for the local plan and forecasts of environmental impact were formulated, indicating the need to introduce the appropriate and planned space management by slowing down the rapid spread of development areas. It was also indicated that the local plan should strive to maintain the largest possible share of biologically active area, protect the most valuable tree stands, and maintain and shape natural connections with the surrounding forest.
